intoxicating dances, songs, and rhythms from Guinea and the Ivory Coast, West Africa, with a
fierce and beautiful energy. Our pieces celebrate the life and culture of West Africa.  We have
performed at The Paramount Theater, One World Theater, and for many outdoor festivals,
such as Austin City Limits, Pecan Street and the Violet Crown Festival.
Center.

In the Su Su language of Guinea, West Africa, Lannaya means "confidence.” It’s what the Ensemble seeks to express in our work and to instill in our audiences. Through our performances, Lannaya strives to create an atmosphere of communal connection and support, encouraging and inspiring audiences and participants to join in the celebration!

We perform authentic and progressive interpretations of traditional African dance, music, and folklore.  A multicultural and dynamic Ensemble, Lannaya entices its audiences out of their seats and into the aisles with its pulsating synthesis of dance, rhythm and song.  Lannaya consists of an extended family of dancers, drummers and singers, currently led by Master Drummer Alseny Sylla, with Master Dancer/Choreographer Jean-Claude Lessou.  Lannaya performs intricate and intoxicating dances, songs and rhythms from Guinea and the Ivory Coast, with fierce and beautiful energy and athleticism.
