Lan'naya West African Drum and Dance Ensemble is an extended family of talented drummers and dancers. We perform intricate dances, songs, and rhythms from Guinea West Africa, that celebrate the life and culture of West Africa. We have performed at The Paramount Theater, One World Theater, and many outdoor festivals, such as Austin City Limits, Pecan Street and the Violet Crown Festival.
In the SuSu language of Guinea, West Africa, Lan'naya means "trust.” It’s what the Ensemble seeks to express in our work and to instill in our audiences. Through our performances, Lan'naya strives to create an atmosphere of communal connection and support, encouraging and inspiring audiences and participants to join in the celebration!
We perform authentic and progressive interpretations of traditional African dance, music, and folklore. A multicultural and dynamic ensemble, Lan'naya entices its audiences out of their seats with its pulsating synthesis of dance, rhythm and song.
