Technical Specifications

Stage/Performance Area

The stage floor must be resilient wood. The floor cannot be concrete or wood laid directly over concrete.   Dancers perform barefoot. If the floor is not safe for barefoot dancing a Black Marley dance floor must be provided by the presenter. Minimum stage size 25' wide x 20' deep x 18" high, cleared, (no splinters or sharp objects) with 4' minimum wing space. 16' x 16' is minimum stage size for dancers only. This size stage must not have other equipment such as Trap Drum Set, other Band equipment, etc.  The floor and wings must be cleaned (swept and mopped) prior to the Company’s rehearsal(s), performance(s), and swept at intermission. Wing space and cross-over area behind the performance area is required.  ***FESTIVAL presenters are encouraged to have a covered stage.

 

Performance Activities  It is understood that Lannaya reserves the right to change the program or casting due to injury or illness.

 

Space

Dressing rooms must be clean and private allowing performers easy, non-public access to the performing area.  Two lavatories (that are not for public use), one for men, one for women with sinks nearby/adjacent to dressing room.  Two dressing rooms, one for men and one for women, each capable of accommodating 8 people.    Each dressing room should be furnished with a coat/ costume rack with hangers, seating for 8 people, makeup lights and mirrors and 2 tables.  Quick-change area backstage or adjacent to the performance area may be needed if dressing rooms are not adjacent to the stage area.  Access to the quick-change area must be limited to Lannaya performers.  Area in or near dressing area should have electrical outlets and electrical heater to warm drum skins (during Cold Weather).

 

Lighting

(For Concerts and Indoor Performances) general house plot and area lighting.  One lighting technician will be needed at set-up, rehearsal(s) and performance(s).  One follow spot operator (optional).


Sound

house sound with:   Off stage microphones: 1 stage right, and 1 stage left in the wings.  Wireless hand held microphone with detachable stand (optional). Alternately, 1 mic on stand for lead singer and/or narrator. House speakers and Instrument Monitors (for Concerts and Outdoor Performances).  4 Instrument Microphones (1 bass drum mic for doundoun, 1 mic for lead djembé, 1 mic for accompaniment djembés, 1 mic for balafon).  2 area overhead mics for the accompaniment djembés (optional).  Sound Technician and sound board available for technical rehearsal(s) and performance(s).  Other Needs three to seven (3-7) chairs with no arms.  Paging system to dressing rooms.  Loading dock close to backstage area.  Parking for Company vehicles (possibly a charter bus/van).

Hospitality

 

Cups, bottled purified still water---not mineral water---natural fruit/vegetable juices or assorted flavors of Vitamin Water for rehearsal(s), and during performance(s). Assorted fresh fruit tray available for rehearsal(s) and performance(s). Assorted sandwich/wraps and/or assorted spring-roll tray available for rehearsal(s) and/or performances.
