Emily Vorspan grew up in New York and began her career as a modern dancer in the late 1960's. She attended George Washington University where she received a B.S. in Dance Education. In 1979 she moved to Austin and soon after began performing with The Deborah Hay Dance Company. She then went on to perform her own choreography and received funding through the City of Austin to conduct perfomance workshops with multi-aged groups of children. She is married and has two boys, 18 and 21 years old. Currently she teaches pre-school and studies and performs Balafon with Aboubakar Sylla. |
